Students will begin to gain a sense of accomplishment and joy in learning as they grow in their skills and learn their dance to perform in our end-of-season performance.

  • Primary Ballet

    (Approximately ages 8 - 9)

  • Ballet I

    (Approximately ages 10+)

Dancers in this class will gain a strong base for technique by learning more about how their muscles and alignment can help them control their movements. They will be challenged with musicality and memorization of level-appropriate exercises. This level will also introduce a greater use of the entire body while dancing, using the head, arms, and legs simultaneously. Students will learn a dance to perform in our end-of-season performance.

  • Ballet II

Approximately ages 10+ *by instructor’s approval only*

Dancers in this level will have multiple ballet classes per week (2 per week required, 3 per week encouraged). There will be a greater expectation and emphasis on maintaining technique through entire movements and a greater ability to memorize class exercises. Conditioning & strengthening will increase as students begin to learn more difficult movements and are challenged & equipped to attain an increased range of flexibility. Dancers will enjoy the new challenges this level brings, and will learn a dance to perform in our end-of-season performance.

    • Ballet 2/Flex-Class

    • This class will typically be a ballet technique class, however we will also use this hour as “flex” hour for when extra rehearsal time is needed, extra conditioning, or even Bible study/worship time at the instructor’s discretion.

  • Contemporary I

(For dancers ages 10+ who are also enrolled in Ballet 1)

Students will begin to advance into a bit more in-depth contemporary technique within their center warm-up, across the floor exercises, floor work, and guided improvisation/worship. Students will begin to use more abstract concepts to inform their movement, will be encouraged to utilize greater force in their contract & release movements, and there will be a strong emphasis on dance as worship. Students will learn a dance to perform in our end-of-season performance.

  • Contemporary II

(For dancers enrolled in Ballet 2)

There will be a greater expectation and emphasis on maintaining proper technique while executing more difficult contemporary movements. Students will be expected to exude more emotion within their movement, stretching the boundaries of their movement, and exploring more elements of their movement such as speed & directional changes, more jumps & turns, fall & recovery, etc. A heart of worship will be essential to carrying out the vision and style of the dances learned for our end-of-season performance. Dancers in Contemporary 2 will likely have more than 1 contemporary dance, and may also have other opportunities to perform their pieces other than just our end-of-season performance.
